Methodist Church Jury Votes to Suspend Minister for Same Sex Marriage Ceremony:

A jury of United Methodist Church ministers voted 9-4 Thursday to suspend Reverend Amy DeLong for 20 days, effective July 1st.

DeLong is from Osceola, in western Wisconsin. The church trial was held in Kaukauna.

Wednesday the same jury found Rev. DeLong guilty of performing a same-sex holy union ceremony — a violation of the church’s Book of Discipline — after three hours of deliberations.

The story here is “Jury severely shakes finger at Amy DeLong.” And when she does it again (because she said she would do it again) then she will be subject to an even more severe finger-shaking. They might even require her to speak in public on the subject of homosexuality. Consider just how traumatic this punishment has been for the defendant.[blockquote] “This feels very good. Somebody whispered in my ear, ‘condemned to writing,’ which is something I feel comfortable with. It feels like an opportunity to bring reconciliation to the whole United Methodist Church and to continue to be a voice for gay and lesbian people,” Rev. DeLong said.[/blockquote] However will she piece her life back together after this shocking rebuke?

Not bad…getting a 3 week vacation out of the deal.

Weak, spineless, judgement. This does not bode well for the future of that church. The sound you may hear is the sound of the pews sliding into the abyss.

The Presbyterians couldn’t even decide what “marriage” was when they had to make a decision on this issue.

#3, that’s if anyone in the pews hears about it. Apparently the idea is: lift rug, sweep issue under rug, problem solved; which should sound like a familiar pattern to everyone here. What follows should also be familiar.
